DAY BY DAY ACCOUNT OF MY 2011 NAMIBIA TRIP - DAY 4 (2011-05-16)

Brukkaros crater to Windhoek

A not so early rise after a cold night... Breakfast and then a cup of coffee with rusks, waiting for the sun to appear... Is it my imagination or do I see a smurf?

A dassie (rock hyrax) thawing in the sun :)...

The inside of the Brukkaros crater, as seen from the camp site through a break in the crater wall.

The slippery, rocky road down the mountain with the town of Berseba just visible top left

After paying our entrance and camping fees on our way out, we made a quick visit to the predominantly Nama town of Berseba

Then a quick detour to try and find the waterfall in the Fish River near Tses, but it wasn't visible due to the low level of the river. On with the B1 to Mariental for a fuel stop and then via Rehoboth to Windhoek, setting camp at the Arebbusch camping site next to the Eros Airport and then off to a supermarket for some meat and other stuff and then back to camp for a braai and an early night...

Total distance traveled: 460 km of which 75 km was gravel road.

The map below is an interactive Google Map showing the actual GPS track we followed (imported from a .gpx file). Zoom in to follow our route. Click on a balloon for more information.
